What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is active, compassionate care for the terminally ill. Its aim is to enhance quality of life when a cure is no longer an option.

Who are you?

Committed staff and trained volunteers make up the Palliative Caregivers Sudbury/Manitoulin. Together we help to meet the emotional, spiritual, recreational, cultural, psychological and social needs of our clients. We seek to uphold a person's dignity by providing a caring presence.

What services do you provide?

We provide supportive care in the form of: Friendly visiting, Respite for caregivers, Bedside vigil, Follow up bereavement support. We provide supportive care to children faced with terminal illness, grief, or bereavement.

Where are these services provided?

Warmhearts Volunteers will visit the terminally ill person in his or her home, in hospital, or in a long-term care facility. As well, volunteers accompany clients to doctor's appointments, treatment sessions, shops, parks, etc.

What does it cost?

The association takes pride in providing services at no charge. As a non-profit, charitable organization, financial support is obtained through individual contributions in-memoriam donations, fundraising events, and grants.
